Battle of Fort Sumter

Fort Sumter, located in Charleston harbor, South Carolina, is best known as the site upon which the shots initiating the American Civil War were fired. On April 12, 1861, at 4:30 a.m., Confederate batteries opened fire, firing for 34 straight hours, on the fort. All discussions about this topic are contained in this forum.
