Where is this cemetery? The one on top of the hill has a GAR section.

Okay, it's the one on the hill over looking the town as I mentioned. I've been there a few times.... the GAR graves are pretty well kept as far as I know.

My error.... its on the east side of 155.... never been to that one.

I take it then that you are familiar with the area. Lol. It´s right at the end of Elizabeth St.
I used to cut trees back there in the late 70´s and remember coming across it. I always wanted to go back and take a look but now the City has discovered it and there is a big hype about it. It´s bound to get vandalized now.

I was thinking it might be a good Eagle Scout project for the local Troop. I'll have to ask if anyone is interested. Yup... I know the area like the back of my thumb. As far as your relative goes there is another on-line website for research that may have him listed.... I'll try to find him.

Okay, there was a Suter, George W. 2nd Regiment, Maryland Infantry. Not sure what company or position but a little more research should find that information.

I have been researching all of the Sutor/Suter families of Havre de Grace, Harford Co., Maryland who are descend J. Nicholas Sutor and his wife Mary Shaffer. George Washington Sutor is their grandson.

George Washington Sutor, b. 22 Mar 1840 (according to the family Bible, found at the Harford County Historical Society) d. 22 Mar 1865 in Danville Prisoner of War Camp.

He served in Company E, 2nd Regiment of the Maryland Infantry. He is listed as George W. Suter, as well as several other spellings, in his military records. His entire military record (about 20 pages) can be found on www.footnote.com, this is a subscription service but doesn't cost very much if you only want a subscribe to it for a month.

If you have any other questions about the Sutor/Suter family you may contact me at sutgenealogy@sbcglobal.net

George Washington Sutor/Suter according to his military record was "captured at the crater W. Petersburg on July 20, 1864."

I am very interested in the photo on 101combatvet's post that was apparently from Susquehanna River Rat. I viewed the attachment and it is a photo of 4 men in uniform. Does anyone know who the 4 men are? My great great grandfather was Casper Smith.

This is a tombstone that is part of an old forgotten cemetery in Havre de Grace. The cemetery has been recently "re discovered" (although I have known about it since the 1970´s) The tombstone marks the grave of Casper Smith, Company H, 2nd Md E.S. Inf.

I believe the photo was unidentified to individual names but the caption read that they were all Provost Marshals.

    Hello
I joined this forum yesterday after searching for information on my great, great grandfather Geroge Washington Sutor and finding this forum discussion. I see there are some references inherent to articles on my web site. there is also an article on the site about George's only child, Geroge Thomas Sutor. in that article is so e information about G.W Sutor.

I, too, am really interested in discovering the location of his final resting place. I'm also interested in getting to know the forum member who notes G.W. Sutor was his Great, Great, Grnad Uncle.
