Cresent city isn't the best place to get brogans, they'll do in a pinch but you get what you pay for.....and as far as Philadelphia Quartermaster never heard of them so i don't know what they are like.

I think they both get their brogans from the same supplier. Crescent City however has never failed in it's delivery. I usually get my items within a day or two from them.

I have never used Philidelphia Quartermaster though.

What it comes down to, GA, is how much heavy-duty marching you have to do. Gotta march a lot, go for a better brogan. If you're just going to stand around some, go for the cheaper ones that look good.

I believe both sell the same brogan, you get what you pay for and neither offers a quality product. Go Missouri Boot & Shoe or another vendor selling US made product.

While not a pair of brogans, I can attest to the quality of Robert Land's shoes. My wife has a pair of his ladies shoes, and LOVES them..

I have dealt with, and purchased from both. I happen to live not too far from the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot, and have personally met and dealt with Jeff at PQD many times. He carries pretty much the standard mainstream vender/suttler wear, and I have a pair of brogans from PQD which look to be from the same manufacturer as those carried by most others at that price. I can say that PQD ships quickly by Priority Mail and if it is in stock, I usually have it in two to three days. If it is not in stock then it is usually a 4-6 week backorder.

Missouri Boot and Shoe make a quality product. I bought boots (1989) and brogans (1995) and today they are still good after years of hard service.
If you have the time and $ they can custom make a shoe to your foot, or buy in stock, same quality. Be good to your feet !

That's like asking what pile of dog doo in the yard is better.

Advice #1-Just buy the cheapest ya can find, search EBAY or check forums for deals.

Advice #2- Buy a better pair from Robert Land or Jim Lammers (Cedar Creek), or MBS. Take care of them and when you outgrow them then sell them to someone else and make back 50-75% of you investment to buy a new pair of shoes. You can't do that with the Stan Paki Depot shoes, especially if they fall apart after your first event.

Here is my question and kind of weird

I have orthotics to be inserted in the brogans. I got a pair of Fugawee and they brogans do not allow the inserts into the shoes with out hurting the feet. So I am investigating another alternative I could use for Brogans look alike. Suggestions! The toe box does not seem to be big enough once the inserts are in is the problem.

    Sarge,

That is one problem I have with them. But the toe box does not allow for the orthotic inserts either with enough room for the feet. I even went with a bigger shoe size. Everyone else is out of 13 1/2 brogans pretty much since May. So now I am looking for an alternative look a like brogan or just will wear my magnum boots to Manassas til I can get a new pair broken in.

Missouri Boot and Shoe makes nice brogans. I've been wearing his products for 20+ yrs. I don't think the pricing is out of line either.

If you want an overnight solution for Manassas....there isn't one. Maybe walk around Skinner Row and try on some shoes. If you are thinking long term then contact Missouri Boot and Shoe and have them do you up a custom fitted pair.
