This thread will be an opportunity for members to post their all time favorite tunes and/or musical artists either by name, youtube, or link, photo, whatever. You can post more than once if you desire as other tunes pop into your memories, it doesn't matter how many times you post. Here's my first..."Still", by Lionel Richie..

Lee, this is going to be the longest thread ever. :D

Aretha Franklin - I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You)

Sam Cooke - Bring It On Home To Me (was recorded in one take so it's essentially 'live') and A Change Is Gonna Come

Booker T and the MGs - Green Onions (Best. Instrumental. Ever.)

Al Green - Tired of Being Alone and Love And Happiness

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yVsJ9z66_U

King Curtis - Memphis Soul Stew
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tw4iAxHIkOw

Otis Redding - Try A Little Tenderness (this is footage of his last ever performance, the sound is a bit iffy)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azpUTXntVag&feature=related

A bit of Muscle Shoals, a bit of Chicago and Detroit and quite a bit of the Memphis sound, that'll do for starters. Waaaaaaaaaayyyy more to come. :D

My alltime favorite singer is Johnny Mathis. There isn't a song that he has done that I don't like. Some of my favorites:

    "Chances Are"
    "The Twelfth of Never"
    "When I am With You"
    "Wonderful, Wonderful"
"Its Not For Me To Say"
    "Too Little, Too Late"

Bill, should be able to do it by just copying the link from the top of the clip, then pasting it on the board. Then hit 'reply'.

Considering that Natalie Grant was a doddering 37 in 2008 when this video was shot, it's an incredible performance. Rock stars are like NFL players, in that 35 is like really old, dude.

Ok, now the clip. This is in 1982, he is tired and older, and has heart problems. He has come out of retirement to do this one song, introduced by Frank Sinatra, who sang for Tommy Dorsey in the big band era, Buddy was Dorsey's drummer at the time, so the two went way back together.

I would watch the whole thing, but if you want to see Buddy do just the solo it starts at the 3:05 mark and goes about 5 mins.

This is a poor quality vid but I think these two gentlemans makes up for the poor quality! Original song is one of my favorites of all time, though I´m not that big country fan.

There are some videos of Buddy and Gene Krupa dueling on the drums that were just fantastic.

GK was great, I got his autograph in 1966, have no idea where it is now. GK was a bit of a flailer, used a lot of dramatic arm motions. BR kept his hands as close to his drums as he could, and as a result he was much faster, he was able to do a lot more technical drumming because of that. But generally GK was more liked by the public because of his showmanship and his exaggerated motions.

Wow, I just found out that Mel Torme was a drummer...and a pretty good one! Lionel Hampton I already knew about, he was ALWAYS good.

These guys are great to listen to! Lots of times you hear Keith Moon was the greatest rock drummer - he might have been but what a difference!
