Yep that is my situation. I live near Cincinnati, I am a Ohioian, but both sides of my family are Kentuckians. Mother's side of the family was firmly Confederate, with at least 12 members of her family taking up arms against the Union. Those Eastern Kentuckians were a tough breed. Seems almost all of them are from just 2 regiments. All Infantry.

"I had a nice Christmas present as my paperwork has been accepted by the UDC and I am now a full member. "

    I congratulate you.:smile coffee:

Some years back a distant relative of mine contacted me about needing info for her joining the Daughters of the American Revolution, having an Ancestor who fought in the Rev War in South Carolina. Turned out, she lived not far away. I know (like the DAR) the UDC has pretty strict guidelines required to join up, so good for you! Before I left the SCV, there was talk of opening up the ranks to just about anyone to join up, only if they had an interest was going to be the requirement...don't think anything came of it.

    Good luck with your membership.

First, congrats to Diane. Somewhere your ancestor is smiling.

Second, about the SCV. These guys do some very important work in the perservation of Civil War graves and battlefields. I'm not a supporter of the political stuff, but gentlemen like Larry C were doing a lot of good for CW heritage and perservation.
