Reading in the Civil War Naval Chronology how on Jan. 13, 1862, the USS Pensacola ran the Potomac River blockade. Kinda strange hearing of a US ship running the blockade.

Does anyone else know anytime another Union ship ran through a blockade during the war?

Likely a matter of sematics here.
U.S.S. Pensacola departed Alexandria, Va., 11 January 1862 for the Gulf of Mexico to join Flag Officer Farragut's newly created West Gulf Blockading Squadron.
She didn't "Run" the blockade, but passed thru it on her way to join Farragut in the historic dash past Confederate forts St. Philip and Jackson which protected New Orleans 24 April and the next day engaged batteries below that great Confederate metropolis. On the 26th, a landing party raised the Union flag over the mint at New Orleans.

Here is a story about how the south blockade the City of Washington, D.C. by placing artillery pieces along the Potomac river. The artillery east of Washington cut off shipping traffic to the city. The dates of this blockade are form Oct 1861 to March 1862....which falls under the when USS Pensacola left Washington...I guess the report was talking about running pass the Southern artillery pieces...link below..

Thanks for the link. It's too bad they sank her, would have made a nice floating museum here in Pensacola.
