Hey, I'm new to the forum and trying to get help identifying a bullet I found yesterday in northern New York. I know the revolutionary war was fought in this area, but not sure about the civil war.
The bullet is in rough shape, but any help would be greatly appreciated. 20180711_195421.jpg 20180712_074415.jpg 20180712_074427.jpg

Welcome from Missouri. I'm not a bullet expert by any means, but I have a hunch or two about yours. It's awfully deformed, but it looks like a small caliber to me. Maybe a pistol ball or a hunting bullet. I have no idea about the period.

Welcome from Southern Oregon (northern Jefferson).

From the first photo, which clearly shows a cannelure, I'd say it's a modern pistol bullet.

    Thanks I found my answer.
I believe John Winn is correct. After receiving his reply I decided to take a look at it under a loupe. Definitely looks modern.

Welcome From The Heart Of Dixie. Be sure to stop by the Weapons & Ammo and Uniform & Relics forums. I agree with @John Winn its a modern pistol bullet.

Hello and welcome from 35 miles north of Gettysburg! Looks like your bullet is more recent than historical. Bright side...if you keep it long enough it may become historical.
